India, Nepal always committed to work together to advance stability, peace, prosperity in South Asian region: Rajnath Singh

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India and Nepal have always been committed to work closely together to advance stability, peace and prosperity in the South Asian region. <br/><br/>After a meeting with Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa in New Delhi on Sunday, in a tweet, Mr Singh said that he discussed a range of issues with him pertaining to India-Nepal relations. Mr Thapa arrived in India on Saturday on a three-day visit. <br/>This is Mr Thapa's first visit abroad after he assumed office as Deputy Prime Minister.<br/><br/>External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also held talks with Mr Thapa on Sunday. Both the leaders discussed a range of issues of mutual interest. <br/>Talking exclusively to AIR, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said, both the leaders discussed the current political situation in Nepal. Mr Swarup said, India has always working for peace, progress and prosperity in Nepal. <br/><br/>Mr Swarup said, Nepal's Deputy Prime Minister informed Sushma Swaraj that there is a shortage of essential commodities in Nepal and sought India help in easing the supply situation.<br/>Mr Thapa, who is also Foreign Minister of the Himalayan nation, held separate meeting with Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the present visit provides both the countries an opportunity to discuss their bilateral relations and further strengthen them.
