NITI Ayog CEO Amitabh Kant said India needs its own innovative sustainable model of cities instead of replicating American model. He said the smart cities in India are now becoming people–centric, recycling-centric ones.<br/><br/>He was speaking at a panel discussion on "The City that Never Sleeps-Cities of Tomorrow" at the on going GES in Hyderabad. He strongly opposed mere replication of urban development models of western countries. <br/><br/>He also said land value up gradation should be re-invested into infrastructure for sustainable cities. Stressing on the need for people to be smart to have smart cities, Mr Amitabh said people should take initiation to make their cities recycling enabled.<br/> <br/>The panelists include Amroy Lovins, CEO of Rocky Mountain Institute, Priyanka Bakaya of Renewology and Moderated by Anjana Menon, CEO of Content Pexies.
