Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion(DIPP), Amitabh Kant said that India must grow at the rate of 9 to 10 per cent annually to create jobs. Speaking at a function in New Delhi, marking the launch of National Productivity Week , Mr Kant said, in view of large population of youth, the country must attain the required growth rate to create job opportunities. He said, for the sustainable growth, the productivity will have to be the key driver of growth.Mr Kant also said that India should not only be a hub of manufacturing but also it should be the hub of design and innovation. He also asked the National Productivity Council which organizes the Productivity Week, to think about innovative ideas to increase productivity. Our correspondent reports that this year the theme of the week is Make in India- Zero defect, Zero effect. highlighting that products should be made without any defect their manufacturing does not have an adverse effect on environment. On the occasion, Director General, National Productivity Council, Harbhajan Singh also highlighted the achievements of the council.
