India moves to second position in ICC test ranking

India has moved to the second position in the latest ICC test ranking following 2-NIL victory over the West Indies. South Africa lead the table with 131 points followed by India 119 rating points and England with 116 points.Team India yesterday made a superb clean sweep of the two test series with handing over an innings and 126 run defeat to the visitors at Mumbai yesterday.Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who hung up his bat and after a brilliant cricket career of 24 years was honoured with Bharat Ratna yesterday, after the test match. A Rashtrapati Bhawan communique issued in New Delhi said, Sachin Tendulkar and eminent scientist Professor C.N.R.Rao have been chosen for the highest civilian award. Professor Rao was the man behind India's Mars mission and is the Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister. The last recipient of Bharat Ratna was classical vocalist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi in 2008.Congress President Sonia Gandhi has congratulated Sachin Tendulkar on being selected for the Bharat Ratna. Mrs. Gandhi described the cricket legend as one of the greatest youth icon and a definite role model for sportspersons. She also congratulated Prof. C.N.R Rao on being selected for the award.
