India may lose Olympic qualifiers, warns FIH

The International Hockey Federation(FIH) warned today that India could lose next year's Olympic qualifiers if a single national federation was not put in place before the event. India had earlier lost the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy, which was initially alloted to the country after failing to resolve the prolong power struggle between Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federation.FIH President Leandro Negre said today that it is impossible for India to get back the hosting rights of Champions Trophy. He said New Zealand will host it and it is the International Hockey Federation's final decision.Talking to PTI, FIH chief executive officer Kelly Fairweather seemed optimistic about India hosting the London Olympic qualifiers next February. However he warned that India could also face Champions Trophy's fate if the two warring factions — Hockey India and Indian Hockey Federation fail to break their impasse.
