India, Malaysia to enhance cooperation in road sector

India and Malaysia are exploring possibilities of enhanced government-to-government cooperation in road sector. This includes detailed project reports, technical expertise and feasibility studies and toll technology. Malaysia's special envoy for Infrastructure for India and South Asia, Dato Seri Samy Vello on Thursday called on Transport and Highways Minister Dr. C.P Joshi expressing his government's willingness to strengthen ties with India in the road sector. Officail sources said that that the Malaysian representative also offered arranging funds for infrastructure sector specially roads.Earlier, both the governments had decided to work on a price discovery mechanism, a new concept where both sides will arrive at an agreeable cost while undertaking road building projects. AIR correspondent reports that the Transport ministry has plans to collaborate with Malaysia's Construction Industry Development Board.
