India today once again made it clear to Pakistan that talks and terror cannot go hand in hand. Addressing media in New Delhi, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said surgical strikes conducted by India was to convey to Islamabad that New Delhi will not tolerate terrorism against it. Mr Singh said India's relations with countries globally have become stronger. The Minister said, all countries have to stand together against the growing menace of terrorism. <br/><br/>Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar who also addressed the media said terrorism is not conducive for talks between India and Pakistan. He said terrorism in all forms is unacceptable. On a question on relevance of India's diplomatic relations with Pakistan in the backdrop of cross-border terrorist incidents, Mr. Akbar said, neighbours cannot be changed and therefore engagements need to be continued but with open eyes. He expressed hope that Pakistan will see the path of reason.<br/><br/>Asked about India's relations with the new administration which will take over in the US soon, Mr Akbar said future of Indo-US relationship is brighter than it has been in the recent past. On the reportedly growing proximity of Russia with China and Pakistan, he said, Russia is a time-tested friend and will not do anything which hurts India's interests. <br/>On India-China relations, V K Singh said, the engagement has expanded between the two countries in a range of areas. He said by and large there has been peace and tranquility on the borders too. The Minister said, India and China as a mature nation would increase areas of convergence and reduce areas of divergence. On Nuclear Suppliers Group, Mr Singh said, India is engaging with everybody to ensure the membership of the elite group.
