India have lost the first cricket Test against England at the historic Lord's stadium in London. In this 2000th cricket test, which was also the 100th between the two nations, James Anderson bagged 5 wickets on the final day yesterday as England defeated the Number one Test side by a massive margin of 196 runs. Chasing a mammoth target of 458, injury-plagued India resumed the day with their overnight score of 80 for 1 in the second innings. From there on, it was English paceman James Anderson all the way. He took the crucial wickets of Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman in the opening session itself, leaving India to a miserable 142 for 4 at lunch. Then in the post-lunch session he trapped master blaster Sachin Tendulkar leg before with a superb delivery. In the final session, India needed 240 runs with 5 wickets in hand. But, India were dismissed for 261. James Anderson finished with 5 for 65 and the hero in the first innings Stuart Broad ended with 3 for 57. Kevin Peitersen was adjudged man of the match for his blistering 202 not out. The second Test will be played at Nottingham from the 29th of July.
