Australia posted a 3 wicket win over India in the 3rd international cricket one dayer at Melbourne today and took an unassailable lead in the 5 ODI series. Batting first, India scored a decent 295 for six in 50 overs with Virat Kohli scoring a run-a-ball 117 en route his 24th ODI century which incidentally was also his fastest to 7,000 ODI runs. In reply, Australia never looked in trouble as they knocked off the required runs with 7 balls remaining. Glenn Maxwell frustrated India's hopes of an elusive win with a superlative 96 off 83 balls that had eight fours and three sixes. India's bowlers produced yet another sloppy performance to allow Australia undo the valiant effort from the batting unit. Skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni said after the match the fielding was also not upto the mark as easy boundaries were conceded at crucial junctures. But Dhoni was happy the way the Indian batsmen showed up. Australian skipper Steven Smith praised his bowlers for restricting India within 300 runs. Man of the Match, Maxwell called it an amazing win for Australia.
