India loose both its Single matches against Spain in Davis Cup World Group Play-off in New Delhi

In Tennis, India lost both its Singles matches against Spain in the Davis Cup World Group Play-off played in New Delhi Friday evening. In the first game, Ramkumar Ramanathan went down fighting against Feliciano Lopez, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 1-6 to give Spain the lead. Lopez had replaced world number four Rafael Nadal for the game. Earlier, it was reported that Nadal pulled out due to an upset stomach. However, after the match, Lopez said, the top seeded Spaniard did not play as he is still recovering from a wrist injury.In the second Singles match, world number 13 David Ferrer saw off Saketh Myneni in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 helping the visitors take a 2-0 lead.The Doubles rubber will be played today. The team of Leander Paes and Saketh Myneni is scheduled to take on the pair of Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez.The Reverse Singles matches are slated for tomorrow.
