India lodges strong protest with Pak over ceasefire violations

The Pakistan government has accepted five of the six demands of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan who is still protesting in the Red Zone of the capital with Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Tahir-ul Qadri.

Quoting Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Radio Pakistan said that as for the sixth demand regarding the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the premier himself has offered to link the issue with the finding of the Judicial Commission.

The Interior Minister said, if the Judicial Commission concludes that there was organized and pre-planned massive rigging in general elections, the Prime Minister and the Government would resign.

The Interior Minister said, in view of the attitude of the two parties, the government asked Pakistan Army to facilitate the process, which is clearly legal and constitutional. He, however, clarified that it did not involve mediation or the role of a guarantor.

The Interior Minister also said that security forces are totally in defence mode but there are clear red lines if someone resorted to violence.

Accusing the Prime Minister of lying on the floor of the National Assembly, Imran Khan announced that his party would expand their sit-in to rallies in Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad and Multan today.
