In Jammu and Kashmir the situation on the International Border became grim last evening when Pakistani Rangers opened unprovoked firing killing one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan in Abdullian sector in R S Pura area of Jammu district.
At around 7.45 PM yesterday, Pakistani Rangers targeted naka (bunker) from their Suragpur and Nandpur Border out Posts (BoPs). One sniper shot hit BSF Constable Chandan Narayan of Assam of 135 Battalion deployed at naka.Our correspondent reports that late in the evening, Pakistani troops also resorted to unprovoked firing on Mangral, Sangral and Gharana Border Outposts (BoPs) from their forward Posts using heavy arms and motor shells.
Irked over the attitude of Pakistani rangers, the BSF jawans also retaliated the fire and the exchange of fire continued till 11.15 P.M. Panicked over heavy shelling and firing from across the border, the villagers of Abdullian gathered at safer places within the vicinity of the village.
They decided to migrate towards RS Pura if the situation does not improve during the night. Meanwhile, India yesterday lodged a strong protest with Pakistan over the ceasefire violation along the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
