India lodges strong protest with China over ill treatment of Diplomat

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has said the trade-related dispute involving two Indian traders in China should be settled as per law. Expressing concern over the ill-treatment meted out to an Indian diplomat in Shanghai, he said, it is a trade-related dispute; no harm should be done to the Indian nationals.

Mr. Krishna told reporters in Bangalore that India has lodged its protest to Chinese authorities and also instructed the Indian mission in Beijing to take it up with Chinese authorities.

He said, Deputy Chief of the Chinese mission in New Delhi has been called and New Delhi will follow it up with the Chinese mission.
