India lifts first Asian Hockey Champions Trophy by defeating Pakistan

India beat Pakistan 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the final of Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament at Ordos in China on Sunday evening. Goalkeeper S Sreejesh stole the limelight with two crucial saves. Rajpal Singh, Danish Mujtaba, Yuvraj Walmiki and Sarvanjit Singh scored for India in the penalty shootout while Muhammad Rizwan and Waseem Ahmed sounded the board for Pakistan after both the sides were locked goalless during the normal and extra time. India also led the table on the number of goals, netting seven more goals than it received in the Championship. India had gone into the match without five prominent faces and featuring new players in its squad. The Michael Nobbs coached team put up a stunning performance maintaining a no defeat record in the tournament.
