India lift Men's Junior Hockey World Cup title; PM congratulates

India has lifted Men's Junior Hockey World Cup, in the final match played at Lucknow today Indian team defeated Belgium by 2-1. Gurjant Singh scored the first goal against Belgium in the 8th minute of the game. The second score was contributed by Simranjeet Singh on 22nd minute. For Belgium, Bockrijck Fabrice scored the only goal. India had entered into the finals of the tournament after an interval of 15 years. In 1997 they had finished runners-up. Earlier, India won the trophy in 2001 in Hobart, Australia.Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated team for winning World Cup and said it augurs well for the future of Indian hockey. In a tweet, he said he is extremely proud of youngsters. Mr Modi added that the win will also make the sport even more popular among youngsters
