India, Laos & Cambodia should cooperate in fighting menace of terrorism: President

The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil said, her visit to Laos and Cambodia would further strengthen the relations with the ASEAN countries. Speaking to media on board her special flight for a ten-day visit to Laos and Cambodia, She called for promoting greater stability and security in the ASEAN region. Mrs Patil said, India, Laos and Cambodia should cooperate in fighting the menace of terrorism. Underlining that India is the largest trading partner of ASEAN, She said, India’s trade and investment potential would grow further with the countries of the region. Mrs. Patil said as a country coordinator for India in ASEAN, Laos played supportive role for enhancing India’s profile in the region.The President said, both India and China have potential to grow in the ASEAN region. She said, there is enough scope in the world for both India and China to grow and develop fulfilling their aspirations.Later, addressing the Indian community at the reception held in her honor at Piantiane, Laos, Mrs. Patil said, Indian economy has weathered the impact of global financial crisis with resilience and is growing at rates it has achieved prior to the crisis. She said, the growth would qualitatively transform the economy of the country while improving economic relations with friendly countries including Laos.
