Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said that India and Srilanka will jointly construct 50,000 houses for the Internally Displaced persons in Northern and Eastern Provinces of the island country.<br/>In a letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr M.Karunanidhi, copies of which were released in Chennai today, Dr Singh said New Delhi is also working on projects and programmes for resettled families to help them to earn their own livelihood.<br/>The Prime minister said the Srilankan President Mr Mahinda Rajapakshe during his recent visit to New Delhi had assured him that the 47,000 Tamils who are still in camps will be resettled by the year end.<br/>Dr Singh said during his meeting with Srilankan President, he had also taken up the issue of reconciliation among communities in Srilanka and for practical arrangements including devolution of powers to enable all minorities particularly the Tamils to lead a lives of dignity.
