India and Kuwait today signed an MoU to strengthen medical co-operation and encourage medical tourism between the two countries. As per the MoU, degrees and other qualifications issued by institutions in medicine, including traditional medicine, nursing, medical technicians and paramedical recognized by government bodies will be treated at par for appropriate job placements and benefits by Kuwait's Ministry of Health.
Besides, appropriate training will be provided to Kuwaiti doctors in centres of excellence in the field of traditional and modern medicine and allied health specialties in India. The MoU has also provisions for treatment of Kuwaiti patients in the approved specialized Indian hospitals. The MoU was signed by Union Health Secretary P K Pradhan and Under Secretary of Health Ministry of Kuwait, Dr. Ibrahim Alabdelhadi.
