India and Korea signed the landmark civil nuclear cooperation agreement on Monday paving the way for New Delhi’s ambitious plans for enhancing nuclear energy production to meet its ever increasing energy demands. The pact was signed in the Korean capital of Seoul following the delegation level talks between the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil and her Korean counterpart Lee Myung-bak. Briefing newspersons, Secretary East Mr. Sanjay Singh said, both the leaders shared the view that cooperation between the two countries have been enhanced in all areas and agreed to further expand cooperation in political, security and defence industry sectors. President Patil pitched for launching Korean satellites abode Indian rockets by highlighting world class facilities available with India for the same. Both the leaders also agreed to upgrade the existing comprehensive economic partnership agreement to free trade agreement. The other two agreements include media exchanges and administrative arrangements for social security. Mrs. Patil arrived in Seoul on Sunday and will leave for Mongolia on Wednesday.
