Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar has said that India is keen on bolstering its strong ties with the UAE to meet global challenges. Addressing the 11th forum of UAE ambassadors and heads of representative missions in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Mr Akbar asserted that increased bilateral coordination is needed to face challenges posed by fast-paced international developments. He said India wants to boost bilateral ties in light of the prospects for bilateral cooperation, regional and fast-paced international developments and shifts. Mr Akbar said that the two countries need to further boost coordination and understanding in order to face challenges posed by these shifts and invest in available opportunities.<br/>'<br/>During the forum, being organised by the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation from April 9-13, a special session was dedicated to UAE-India relations and international developments. Mr Akbar is the first foreign dignitary in the last decade to address the annual Forum of UAE's Ambassadors. During his two day visit, Mr. Akbar is scheduled to meet his UAE counterpart and other leaders to hold discussions covering the entire gamut of bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest between the two countries. He will also interact with the Indian Business Community. <br/><br/>Approximately 2.6 million strong and vibrant Indian community forms the largest expatriate group in the UAE.This visit hopes to further cement the mutually beneficial ties with the Gulf country. India enjoys close and multifaceted bilateral ties with the UAE, anchored on regular high-level visits and extensive people-to-people contacts. The recent visits of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to the UAE in August 2015 and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to India in February 2016 and subsequently as the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations during January 2017 have elevated the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.<br/>'<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the UAE International Investors Council (UAEIIC) and UAE-India Business Council (UIBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for facilitating trade and investments including for the expansion of joint ventures, technological and industrial collaboration.
