India and Japan on Tuesday agreed to strenghten the already existing democratic ties between the two countries. Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mr Ashwani Kumar called for further consolidation of the unique parternship between the two economic powers of Asia. Speaking to a visiting Japanese delegation, Mr Kumar said, this releationship is an essential component of Prime Minister Dr manmohan Singh's Look East Policy towards a closer integration of India with East Asia. Japanese delegation head and President of International Friendship Exchange Council of Japan, Ken Matsuzawa said that Japan treats India as an important economic and scientfic power and dominant for peace in the region.
