India and Japan today signed four MOUs in connection with developing and managing sustainable new cities in the ambitious Delhi Mumbai Industrial corridor project.The MOUs are focused on eco-friendly development along the corridor. Speaking on the occasion, Commerce and Industries minister Anand Sharma , said that the project is biggest in the world costing 90 billion dollars and is expected to be completed in Nine years. Project is expected to increase India's export up to four times.He said that India's strategic partnership with Japan will define development in Asia and the World. Replying to a question on the sidelines of this function, Mr. Sharma said that index of industrial production was recorded above 15 percent in recent months and is expected to remain growing. He also expressed hope that overall export figures for the year will be strong.The Minister said that, issue of seizure of Indian drugs in Europe was taken up with European Union and the EU has assured that it is willing to amend the notification which caused the seizure. He said that if India's sensitivities are not addressed at this forum then, the issue will be raised at WTO.
