The security cooperation between New Delhi and Tokyo remained the focus of discussions in the first India-Japan two plus two dialogue. The action plan to advance such cooperation was also discussed in the meeting of joint working group held in New Delhi. <br/><br/>According to an External Affairs Ministry press release, the two sides decided to hold the meeting of the Joint Working Group on counter terrorism at an early date to deal with non-traditional threats to security. <br/><br/>The Indian side at the talks was led by Foreign Secretary, Nirupama Rao and the Defence Secretary, Mr. Pradeep Kumar. The Japanese delegation was led by Dy. Foreign Minister, Kenichiro Sasae and his Deputy. <br/><br/>The two delegations also exchanged views on regional and international security situation and provided each other an exposition of its defence and security policies. <br/><br/>Our Correspondent quoting official sources reports that cooperation in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and holding of joint naval exercises also figured in the talks apart from civil nuclear cooperation. India and Japan held preliminary talks on nuclear commerce ahead of the meeting.
