India, Israel to double number of tourists over next 3 yrs

Giving a major push to tourism, India and Israel have agreed to double the number of tourists over the next three years. Israel has agreed to relax visa norms for Indians and will open a tourism office in Mumbai. Besides, it will construct over 2 lakh hotel rooms and increase the number of El Al flights to Mumbai from 3 a week to daily. A Memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost the bilateral ties in the tourism sector was signed between the visiting Indian tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahai and his Israeli counterpart Stas Misezhnikov in Jerusalem yesterday. Israel is also looking at opening new flights to New Delhi, Kolkata and Goa.
Incredible India Road show highlighting India’s tourism potential gets underway in Israeli capital Telaviv today. Union Minister of Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai will kick off the event at a function in Telaviv. The function would be attended by leading tour operators, travel agencies ,experts from hospitality industry and senior dignitaries from both India and Israel. Indian delegation consists of representatives from eight states including the tourism ministers of Uttarakhand and Assam. The event is aimed at showcasing India’s tourism potential and exchange of ideas on how to promote tourism between the two countries.
