India on Tuesday said, it is the long-term partner for the African nations in the area of Hydro Carbon Sector.Minister of State for External Affairs Minister Shashi Tharoor said in New Delhi while addressing the second India-Africa Hydrocarbons Conference that India is the fourth largest consumer of crude oil and using 2.8 million barrels of oil every day.Mr. Tharoor said India imported oil worth 75 billion us dollars in the last fiscal.Highlighting Indian oil industry's expertise in the oil and natural gas value chain, the minister said, New Delhi offers as both a huge market for energy products as also an investment and technology partner in the oil and gas sector.He said that holding that Indian approach to Africa is not a one-way street and New Delhi is keen to train, educate and broaden the horizons of African citizens.Mr. Tharoor said Africa is using only 40 per cent of its oil produces due to the economic constraints and said India will draw equal satisfaction when African oil fuels Africa's own development and growth.
