India is in touch with US on H1-B visa issue: MEA

India says it is in touch with the US administration on H1-B issue. MEA spokesman Vikas Swarup said, an executive order is yet to be signed in this regard. Mr Swarup said, one should not prejudge the outcome. <br/><br/>A legislation has been introduced in the US House of Representatives on Tuesday, which, among other things, calls for more than doubling the minimum salary of H1-B visa holders to 130,000 dollars. <br/><br/>The current H-1B minimum wage is 60,000 dollars. This will make it more difficult for firms to use the program to replace American employees with foreign workers, including from India.
