Minister of state for External Affairs Gen V.K. Singh today said India is engaged with all sections of the US Government and its Congress and conveyed, with respect to H1 and B1 visas, that Indians should be treated differently as they are contributing to its economy. <br/><br/>He was addressing a press conference in Hyderabad today on the sidelines of the first 'Videsh Sampark", an outreach programme held in Hyderabad. He expressed hope that the US will kept this in mind while taking decisions over the Visa issues. <br/><br/>He said the government is rethinking on insurance schemes for Pravasis to improve insurance coverage. He urged people not to take illegal migrations through agents and to register themselves on e-migration portal and also with embassy. He also said passport seva kendras will be opened at about 800 head post offices across the country in phased manner. <br/><br/>Earlier, addressing the first ' Videsh Sampark', Mr Singh said the government is committed to protecting the interests of overseas Indians. He asked the state governments to sternly act against the agents who help illegal migrations. <br/><br/>Stating that the procedures have been simplified for services like passport, he stressed the need for using the technological tools like web portals set up by the Ministry to help setting up correct database of overseas Indians. Mr Singh also said the External affairs Ministry is working on agreements with several countries to bring back illegal migrants who are serving jail term on foreign land. <br/><br/>Telangana NRI Affairs Minister K Taraka Ramarao urged the Centre to set up a consulate office in Hyderabad for Saudi Arabia. He also urged the Centre to protect the interests of students and blue collar employees. He said the state will share burden if the centre proposes insurance cover for overseas Indians especially blue collar employees. <br/>Senior officials from both the Centre and State governments, and representatives of employment agents, and NGOs also attended. <br/><br/>It is the first of its kind conference held as part of the series of outreach programmes that the External Affairs Ministry has taken up across the country.
