Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that India is committed to foster its relationship with Bangladesh at all levels. He said, Bangladesh has an active civil society, pluralism and a vibrant democracy and has done well in the field of economic growth.
Delivering a lecture on “India, Bangladesh and South Asia” at Dhaka University today, he said, the two countries have unfinished agenda of giving food, clothing, shelter and dignified life to all its peoples. He said there is high potential among the Asian Nations if they learn to trust each other and work together for peace, development and prosperity.
He said, the borders between the countries are a sovereign reality but we should make them frontiers of hope and source of our development. Dr Singh said that the border management mechanism has been put in place for speedy development of trade and commerce.
He appreciated Bangladesh for its support in tackling the problems of extremism and terrorism. The Prime Minister said that India and Bangladesh have been friends and will remain friends for ever.
