India is a country moving from developing to a middle-income economy: RBI Governor

RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has said that India is a country moving from developing to a middle-income economy and is in the beginning of another period of sustained growth. He said, it is an exciting time for the country and the youth will not have a problem finding jobs. Dr Rajan was delivering the Kale memorial lecture at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune Friday evening. Speaking on the global economy and implications for India, the RBI Governor said that the world economy is facing a difficult situation. He lamented that the emphasis is on monetary and fiscal stimulus rather than on structural reforms. Dr Rajan emphasized that the world economy needs new international rules of the game and we need to ensure macroeconomic stability in our own country. RBI Governor said that we need to work for a more open and fair global trading system.
