India International Seafood Show to conclude today in Kolkata

The biggest Seafood Show in Asia, India International Seafood Show will conclude today in Kolkata. The three-day event organised by the Marine Products Export Development Authority MPEDA in association with the Seafood Exporters Association of India began on Wednesday. It featured a buyer-seller meeting with a particular focus on G20 countries. Inaugurating the event, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel said that India has set a target of achieving 14 billion dollars in exports of marine products by 2025 and efforts are being made to achieve the target.<br />''<br />''Around five thousand delegates from India and other countries are attending the event.<br />''<br />''The Government in the latest Union budget announced a new sub-scheme named Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana and has allocated six thousand crore rupees. A custom duty benefit of 2.5 per cent is also proposed for inputs of shrimp feed.<br />''<br />''During 2021-22, India exported over 13.5 lakh tons of marine products worth 7.76 billion dollars registering an all-time high export by value, while shrimp production crossed one million tons. Frozen shrimp remained the major export item in quantity and value.<br />
