India-Indonesia bilateral trade to touch US$ 12 bn by Dec end

Trade between India and Indonesia is expected to touch 12 billion US Dollars by end of this month. Commerce Minister Anand Sharma and his Indonesian counterpart Elka Pengestu held discussions on Expanding trade basket between the two countries in New Delhi on Wednesday. India-Indonesia trade was close to $11 billion in first 10 months of 2010. The two ministers said that they are hopeful that the two countries are all set to achieve the trade target ahead of the set deadline. Earlier, Mr. Anand Sharma had said India attached high importance to the 'Look East Policy' and its economic integration with the region. He hoped that services and investment negotiations with ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) will be concluded by March. The meeting was also attended by Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar along with senior officials from both countries. AIR Correspondent reports that India exports petroleum products, organic chemicals, electronic goods, iron and steel and machinery to Indonesia while it imports edible oils, petroleum products, ores, chemicals and rubber products.
