India hold on Australia to 1-1 draw in Azlan Shah Cup

In the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament at Ipoh, Malaysia, India today held world and Olympic champion Australia to a 1-1 draw. Jacob Whetton put the Aussies ahead in the 14th minute. But a resolute India scored the equaliser through Rupinder Pal Singh when he converted a penalty corner in the 22nd minute. In their earlier two encounters, India were victorious against Great Britain yesterday, after losing their first match to South Korea on the opening day. In the other two matches today, while Pakistan are slated to meet Britain, South Korea will be facing New Zealand. Hosts Malaysia are the other team in the seven-nation round-robin tournament.
