Indian Hockey teams for Men and Women for the Rio Olympics have been announced. In a surprise move, skipper Sardar Singh has been removed from captaincy mainly on the basis of his recent dip in performance. Goalkeeper P R Sreejesh will captain the Men's team. In Women's, Sushila Chanu will lead the team instead of former captain Ritu Rani. In fact, Ritu Rani has been already dropped from the Rio bound squad. Sreejesh, one of the finest custodians in world hockey at the moment, was rewarded after the team, under his leadership, ended up with a silver medal at the six-nation invitational Champions Trophy hockey tournament in London.Playmaker SV Sunil, who is also a key component in the team, has been named vice-captain. Sardar has been the captain of the national team for a number of years having led the team in London 2012.
