India is helping Bhutan to build up its IT industry in a big way. In an exclusive interview to AIR broadcast last night, the Indian ambassador to Bhutan Mr. Pawan Verma said that the project has begun to make a substantial population of Bhutan e-literate. The Bhutanese Project Director Tandi Wangchuk said that in the rural areas, very few people are e-literate and the idea is to make especially the young population computer savy. Vivek Rao from NIIT, said that the project will cover the population from students to colleges as well as the officials.
