India has potential to increase its textile share in world trade: Maran<br/>

India has the potential to increase its textile share in the world trade from the current level of 4.5% to 8% to reach $80 billion by 2020. This was stated by Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran at the convocation of National Institute of Fashion Technology, NIFT in New Delhi today.He said that to achieve the growth of Indian Textile Industry targeted at $220 billion, investments to the tune of $68 billion across the textile supply chain will be required. Maran said that textile sector will generate an additional 10 million direct and 20 million indirect employment. He called upon the NIFT to double their efforts to make available the additional requirement of qualified technical personnel to the Textile Sector.
