The government informed the Lok Sabha today that India has gained mastery over the entire thorium fuel cycle as also in thorium extraction, fuel fabrication and irradiation. Expertise has also been achieved in constructing power reactor, thorium reprocessing and in setting up the highly sophisticated unanium-233 fuel reactors. <br/><br/>Giving details, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh said a 300 mega watt heavy water reactor based on thorium fuel has been developed. This reactor will serve as a technology demonstrator for thorium fuel cycle methods. India has also developed the reprocessing technique for separating uranium-233 from spent thorium fuels, he said.
