India has asserted that it will not ignore the brazen denial and lack of a proper response by Islamabad to New Delhi's repeated demarches on killing of two Indian soldiers on Line of Control. In a statement issued in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said that in view of these developments bilateral relations could be affected and there can not be business as usual between the two countries. He said such actions by Pakistan are not only in contravention of all norms of international conduct but also constitute a grave provocation and lead India to draw appropriate conclusions about Pakistan's seriousness in normalising relations with India.
Replying to a question, Mr. Khurshid said the government wants to demonstrate its determination and seriousness over the incident and the same should be made clear to Pakistan.
The External Affairs Minister said that killing of two Indian soldiers in Mendhar sector and the barbaric mutilation of their bodies have been condemned in the strongest possible terms. He said the government has deplored this grave provocation and repugnant act of the Pakistan army and called on Islamabad to carry out a proper investigation of this unacceptable action. This was immediately conveyed by the Indian side at the Brigadier level Flag Meeting on Monday.
