India hands over Rs 545 mn aid to Nepal Dy PM

The Ambassador of India to Nepal, Mr.Rakesh Sood yesterday handed over a cheque of over 545 million rupees to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Irrigation ,Nepal, Mr.Bharat Mohan Adhirari at Kathmandu. This is India's assistance for construction of embankments along Lalbakeya, Bagmati and Kamala rivers in Nepal which is being undertaken in accordance with the decisions under the India-Nepal Joint Committee on Inundation and Flood Management. According to a press release of the Indian Embassy, with the present grant, the total grant assistance already disbursed for embankment construction along these rivers stands at over 2023 million rupees. India has also committed grant assistance of 226 million rupees for flood protection works along Gagan, Trijuga, Lakhandei, Sunsari, Kankai and Kaligandaki rivers in Nepal. The flood protection works along Trijuga, Kankai and Lakhandei rivers have already been completed.
