Beijing says India and China can reach important strategic consensus for deepening friendship and expanding bilateral partnership for peace and prosperity of both the countries. Talking to reporters after a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning, the visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao also advocated for enhanced people to people contact. Calling India a great neighbour of China, Mr.Wen Jiabao said that his visit will help increase bilateral cooperation in wide range of fields and raise it to higher levels for common development goals. Hinting at the issues he is taking up during the Summit talks the Chinese Premier said, he will have in-depth exchange of views.Addressing captains of Industry from India and China in New Delhi last evening, Mr Wen said that the future prosperity of the two countries lies in Partnership and not rivalry. Mr. Wen Jiabao went to Rajghat and paid homage to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi this morning. The Chinese premier is now holding delegation level talks with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He is accompanied by a high level official delegation and about 400 strong business contingent. Our correspondent reports that stapled visas, Chinese activities in Pak Occupied Kashmir, the boundary issue and the cross-border rivers are likely to be discussed during the talks. A host of global issues, including UN reforms, financial crisis, climate change and terrorism are also expected to come at the high table. A series of agreements are likely to be signed after the talks. The two countries have already finalised deals worth 16 billion dollars. Mr Wen will also address Indian Council of World Affairs later in the afternoon to spell out his vision on India China relations. He will attend Celebration of 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries and closing ceremony of Chinese Festival in India in the evening.
