India and Germany have agreed to launch soon a technology centre in New Delhi for carrying out research development projects. The two countries have agreed to provide five million dollors each annually for the centre for five years. The objective of setting up this centre is to bring about synergy among the scientists of the two countries in advance research. <br/><br/>A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting between Science and Technology Secretary CT Ramaswami and the Parliamentry Secretary of German Federal, Ministry of Education and Research Thomas Rachal. Our correspondent reports that several joint initiatives have been launched in the areas of scientific research and development.<br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that the colloboration between India and Germany in the area of Science and Technology has increased in the last five years. <br/><br/>Last year alone seventeen hundred scientists moved between the two countries, marking an increase of 35 per cent over the previous year. With greater synergy between the scientific community of the two countries, it has been focussing on sustainable development, energy and water. <br/><br/>With the launch of the new initiative, it is expected that scientists will discover new frontiers and in partnership with industry will give boost to growth momentum in the two countries.<br/>
