India and Germany discussed bilateral cooperation in shipping and technology, carbon dioxide reduction in maritime transport and ship breaking. According to an official release, the issues were discussed when the Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Development from Germany, Dr Peter Ramsauer, leading an official delegation from the European country, called on Shipping Minister G K Vasan, in New Delhi on Tuesday. Highlighting the thrust being given to public-private participation in the port sector, Mr Vasan outlined the opportunities available for the German side to invest in shipping and port development projects. Mr Vasan also highlighted the potential for greater cooperation between India and Germany in the areas of maritime education, shipbuilding and technology and inter-port cooperation for mutual benefit.
