India, France appeal world community to discourage terrorism

India and France have appealed the world community to discourage terrorism and isolate those who are providing safe havens to terrorists. <br/><br/>Speaking to media after delegation level talks in New Delhi today, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean Yves-Le Drain reiterated to fight against terrorism together. <br/><br/>Ms Swaraj said, Indo-French defence cooperation has advanced in the recent past and both countries have decided to further improve the cooperation. She said, both countries have also decided to expand the economic cooperation. <br/><br/>Ms Swaraj thanked France for its support to India for permanent membership in UN Security Council. The External Affairs Minister said, India and France have decided to improve people and people contacts. <br/><br/>She said, both countries have agreed to cooperate on the security architecture of the Indian Ocean region. <br/><br/>Ms Swaraj said, the cooperation is aimed at ensuring unhindered trade and movement and security of the international sea lanes, fighting maritime terrorism and piracy and building capacities on regional and international platforms.<br/><br/>In his press statement, French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean Yves-Le Drain said, France will like to further strengthen the strategic partnership with India. <br/><br/>He said, Defence partnership between New Delhi and Paris is significant. <br/><br/>The French Minister said, both countries are committed to save planet earth through Paris climate change agreement. <br/><br/>Mr Le Drain said, France will continue its partnership with India in areas such as smart cities and renewable energy. He said, people to people partnership is very important and Indian students and researchers are welcome in France. <br/><br/>He informed that French President Emmanuel Macron to visit India early next year.
