India for expanding scope of talks with Pakistan

New Delhi will seek to expand the scope of talks with Islamabad in the forthcoming foreign ministers meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting will be preceded by talks between foreign secretaries of the two countries tomorrow. They will review the talks held so far and prepare the agenda for ministerial level meeting. Government sources said in New Delhi that India will push for justice for 26/11 victims and will raise the issue of ISI's link with Kashmir separatism in the talks. The two sides will announce a series of confidence building measure aimed at expanding trade and travel between the two parts of Kashmir. Pakistan's foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar will reach New Delhi tomorrow for talks with her Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna. Sources said that Ms. Rabbani has also sought a meeting with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Government sources added that the need for an atmosphere free from terror is important for meaningful talks and the two sides will review the process and chart the way forward. Our correspondent reports that the meetings are taking place after the two Prime Ministers asked foreign ministers and foreign secretaries in Thimpu, Bhutan, to work out modalities for restoring trust and confidence and pave the way for a substantial dialogue on all issues of concern.
