Foodgrain production in the country has been estimated at a record level of over 273 million tonnes during 2016-17. This was stated by Minister of State for Agriculture SS Ahluwalia in reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today. <br/><br/>He said the earlier record production of foodgrain was in 2013-14 with an output of over 265 million tonnes. The production of rice, wheat, coarse cereals and pulses touched new record levels in the last fiscal. The Minister ruled out any proposal to impose higher import duty on wheat.
