India put up a splendid show for the third day of competition at the Commonwealth Games today further firming up its position at second place on the Medals Tally. The host who have so far have bagged 9 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze, continued their winning spree today bagging 4 gold and 3 more silvers so far. Australia continues in the first position with 11 gold, 9 Silver and 5 bronze while England is in third position. Ace shooter Gagan Narang won gold for India today came in Shooting 10m air rifle singles event as the Ace shooter hit the bulls eye. Gagan created a new Commonwealth Games record scoring 703.6 points, breaking the earlier record of 698 points. In the qualifying round Gagan had equalled his world record scoring 600 out of 600 points. Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra finished second winning silver. Asher Noria and Ranjan Sodhi also won silver in the pairs double trap shooting.Today the second gold for India was shot down by Anisha Sayeed in the women's 25 meters pistol shooting. Anisha set a new Commonwealth Games record scoring 786.8 points. The silver was also won by India's Rani Sarnabot who shot a score of 781 points. Omkar Singh brought today's third Gold for India in the Men's 50 meters shooting scoring 649.6. The silver and bronze in the event went to Singapore's Gai Bing and Swe Hin Loon respectively. In Weightlifting, 58 kilogram category women's event India's Renu Bala Chanu has just finished her golden haul for India. She lifted 197 kilograms beating Seen Lee of Australia to second position and Z. Simit of England to the third position. In Wrestling, India's Rajinder Kumar made it to the finals of the men's 55 kilogram category event today. He defeated M.Venga Promise of Canada in the semi final. Manoj Kumar also reached the finals in the 84 kilogram Greco Roman category. Manoj defeated Vanzyl Dean of South Africa. In 120 kg Greco Roman category, India's Dharmender Dalal lost in the semi finals.In Boxing, 60 kilogram light weight category India's Jai Bhagwan fiercely dominated his bout with a thumping victory over Colan Caleb of Nauru. Jai Bhagwan defeated his opponent with the huge point margin of 11-1.In Tennis, India's top seed Somdev Devvarman breezed into the men's singles quarterfinals with a thumping 6-0 6-1 win over unseeded Sri Lankan Amresh Jayawickreme in the second round matches. With this victory Somdev has entered the quarterfinals of the Men's singles event. Somdev will next take on the winner of the match between Scotland's Colin Fleming and Rubin Statham of New Zealand. Sania Mirza also have entered the quarterfinal in the singles event today. Rohan Bopanna is also scheduled to play the singles second round matches.In Badminton, India blanked Wales 5-0 in the mixed team eventsIn Swimming, India's men's team made it to the final of the 4X200m freestyle relay in the Commonwealth Games at the Dr SPM Aquatics Complex today. The team consisting of Rehan Poncha, Rohit Havaldar, Madar Divase and Aaron D'Souza clocked 7 minutes 49.20 seconds to grab the eighth position in the preliminaries. Meanwhile, Virdhawal Khade of India qualified for the semifinals of the men's 100m freestyle after finishing 13th, while Pooja Alva also entered the semifinals of the women's 100m butterfly by bagging the 15th spot, as the top 16 make it to the last four stage.
