Indian shooters led by Gagan Narang set the range on fire, winning three golds and three silver medals in shooting events. Two other golds came in weightlifting and wrestling taking the tally to ten. India continues to be at the second place with Australia leading the medal tally having thirteen golds in their kitty. Continuing yesterday's gold winning spree, ace Shooter Gagan Narang struck the bulls eye in the ten meter air rifle competition. Narang created a new world record, breaking his earlier one. The second gold of the day was bagged by Anisa Sayyed in the 25 meters women's pistol event while Omkar Singh clinched the third Gold in the 50 meters pistol competition. Abhinav Bindra won a silver in the 10 metre air rifle event. The junior world champion Asher Noria and World No. 3 Ronjan Sodhi teamed up to net the silver in the men's pairs double trap. Rahi Sarnobat also bagged a silver in the 25 meter women pistol event. In weightlifting, Renu Bala Chanu won the gold in the women's 58 kilogram category defeating Australian Seen Lee. In wrestling, India today claimed a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze. The honour of winning the coveted yellow metal was bagged by Rajinder Kumar in 55 kilogram Greco Roman category. The Silver was added to India's kitty through Manoj Kumar in the 84 kg. division. Sunil Kumar collected the Bronze in the 66 kg division. In Badminton, Aditi Mutakar celebrated her birthday with a win at Sirifort complex. Aditi who turned 23 today played her first match in the mixed team event and emerged victorious after spanking Carissa Turner. In Archery, Indian women's team knocked out their arch rival Australia to qualify for the semifinals. The trio of Gagandeep Kaur, Jhano Hansdah and Bheigyabati Chanu defeated their Australian counterparts Rebbcca Darby, Fiona Hyde and Cassi Mc Call by a slender margin. In women's hockey, it was a disppointment for India as the hosts lost to Australia by 2-1. In an earlier fixture, the women were held by Scotland one-one. In the cycling event, Australian Megan Dunn won the women's 25km points race today. England bagged gold and silver in men's individual all-round gymnastics . Sports minister M S Gill has commended Indian athletes for their good performance sounded optimistic about the remaining events of the games. Praising Indian authorities, Australian sports minister Mark Arbib said they have worked very hard to address the concerns of the players and delegates.
