India finish on top with 175 medals

Asserting its supremacy in 11th South Asian Games, India has finished on top with 175 medals including 90 gold, 55 silver and 30 bronze. Pakistan is a distant second with a total of 80 medals.India bagged two gold and two silver medals in table tennis singles events in addition to a bronze in Marathon on the last day of the games on Tuesday.Nearly 1800 athletes from the SAARC countries battled it out for the last 12 days in different cities of Bangladesh for the 158 medals that were at stake in 23 disciplines. The games passed off smoothly except for a technical controversy on the last day over the marathon course reportedly being shorter than the specified Olympic distance.In a fitting finale to the games, Bangladesh bid farewell to all the participants of the games with a spectacular closing ceremony at the Bangabandhu stadium.
