India favourites but need to be consistent: former cricketers

Even though India start as firm favourites in the upcoming World Cup, they would have to play consistently well to go all the way in the tournament, feel former cricketers.Former India skipper Ajit Wadekar said that we stand the best chance to win the trophy if we can keep the momentum. He was the coach of the Indian team that reached the World Cup semi-finals when the quadrennial-event was played in the sub-continent in 1996. He said that India should not become over-confident after registering a couple of wins as they did in the past. Wadekar said this team is professional and has done well over a period of time. He said that we have won many series in India under Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the last couple of years.Former spinner Bishen Singh Bedi feels that India's pace attack might have weakened a bit after losing seamer Praveen Kumar due to injury but it would not have any negative impact on India's campaign at the World Cup. Bedi emphasised that Sachin Tendulkar will have to play a crucial role if India wish to win its second trophy. He criticised the inclusion of three spinners in the 15-member squad. Instead, I think Rohit Sharma should have been included in the team."
