India is fast emerging as educational hub of the world. This was revealed by the Finance Secretary Mr. Ashok Chawla in his acceptance speech after being elected chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Colombo Plan in New Delhi on Wednesday. He underscored New Delhi's commitment to become an international training hub as India offers low cost and high quality solutions for Human Resource Development.<br/><br/>There are 41 thousand two hundred foreign students enrolled in different educational institutions of the country. Mr. Chawla assured the delegates that all efforts will be made in providing training modules of excellence in a cost effective manner.<br/><br/>Mr. Chawla said New Delhi has evolved a collaborative approach through the Colombo Plan and its sisters organizations to deal with the wide spread plan of poverty, universalizations of education and development of technical manpower. He said for dealing with financial volatility, effective macro prudential management has become an essential pre-requisite and suggested that the best practices of India may be of relevance in this context.<br/><br/>Mr. Chawla offered help to the Colombo Plan Secretariat for regulation of financial market and institutes in designing sustainable modules for capacity building. He said this is important in view of the experiences of the global financial crisis which has demonstrated the need for a sensitive tackling of the financial market and its regulatory framework.
