India has expressed its full support to Nepal for the satisfactory culmination of the transition and strengthening of multi-party democracy in Nepal. The visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao held an hour long meeting with the Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at his official residence in Kathmandu and discussed matters of bilateral and regional concern for both the countries. Talking to newsmen, the foreign Secretary said as a close neighbour, India wants to see a stable, prosperous and developed Nepal. Nepal Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Rajan Bhattarai said during the meeting that the two sides agreed to expedite work on various projects being constructed under Indian assistance including the Integrated Check Post, cross border Railway survey and formation of Nepal Police Academy. He said the Prime Minister Madhav Nepal told the Foreign Secretary about the progress made on early conclusion of the peace process by expediting the integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants. AIR Kathmandu correspondent reports that Foreign Secretary Rao who arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday held high-level discussions with her Nepalese counterpart Dr. Madan Kumar Bhatttarai. She also called on the President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subhash Nemwang. The Foreign Secretary is scheduled to meet the Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Prachanda, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and CPN(UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal later today.
